The Ultimate Manhattan

So far, the only role alcohol has played in this blog is just before I start typing. Maybe well before I start typing, but this is worth a look. The old manhattan is something that my grandfather probably sipped back in the sixties while moaning about all the beats and the hippies. With Mad Men being as cool as it is, I think this drink is ready for a resurgence. The trick to this is to mix, then freeze overnight. No rocks required and it ends up pouring as thick as syrup.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Canadian Whiskey
- 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 1 oz dry vermouth
- dash of bitters
Directions
Pour the above ingredients (or more likely, the above ingredients multiplied by 4) into a metal shaker. Give a quick shake and put that into the freezer. Sleep, wake up, probably at least eat lunch before pulling that shaker out for a pour. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, and if you’re a lady, maybe a few drops of maraschino syrup.

Gotta give credit where credit is due, this sounds delish.
Maybe you could make me one at Christmas??
You’ve mixed drinks for me before with hilarious consequences…
